Sessions 58, 59, 60 - The Ones Where They Rescued The Children. Well, Most Of Them

12th, 19th, 28th April 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 3 - Uktar 7 Our "Heroes" are somehow survived a battle they seemed bound to lose. They did so with impressive tactics, or maybe luck. Probably both. But they are paying the cost. They are all exhausted, to varying levels, which is impeding their ability to do things. They head down from where the strange creature, Deggmir, came, and find a strange "laboratory", spotting a dead body (Horgarth), his tearful, grieving elven wife, Starwyn, a large "operating" table, another table holding a strange, metal enclosure with a glowing "thing" inside, and a small chair that seems to hold a bundle of thick, tangled wires, some barbed. The group are in a hurry and only give a cursory glance around the room. Carro finds a bottle filled with a misty swirl of gas, and ledger of sorts with a number of dates, names and races, with Horgarth being the final name in the ledger. Talking with Starwyn and puttin

Session 57 - How The Hell Did They Survive This?

3rd March 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 3 - Uktar 3 Our "Heroes" are in trouble. Big trouble. Having chased rat-creatures down to a lower level, failing to catch them, and then ensuring that everyone knew they were there by slamming a metal grate loudly down whilst trying to lift it, the party prepare for an attack, hiding as best they can behind the furniture. And then the enemies arrive. A creature - humanoid in vague description, but with a body that is somewhat twisted and very much abused, looking at the chains and hooks that pierce his body - easily pushes up the grating and emerges from below. He does not immediately rush out and attack, so Carro holds off his prepared bow, but TC and Mahtis do loose their prepared actions. At almost the same time, the large wooden doors open and a large and ferocious looking werewolf quickly emerges from the open door. This one runs out towards the closest "Hero", who happens to be Mahtis, which allows Carro to fire hi

Session 56 - The One Where TC And Carro Fall Out

18th Feb 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 3 - Uktar 3 Our "Heroes" are chasing some wererats down a staircase. Carro feels naked without his longbow and silver arrows and decides to go back for them. TC pours scorn on this decision and sulks for a while. Carro is already halfway down the corridor, so the effect of this derision is lost on the elf. TC and Mahtis spend a round or two healing themselves up a little, but to continue the chase, Mahtis first conjures up four giant goats to head after the fleeing rat-human hybrids. Unfortunately the lack of the ability to choose the creature does mean that these large creatures clutter up the staircase somewhat, and the chase is not as quick as perhaps would have been hoped for. Especially as it takes a short while for Mahtis to decide what instructions to give the goats. After the goats have headed down, Mahtis and TC follow, ignoring the impressive carvings that adorn this staircase too. At the bottom they just catch sight of t

Sessions 54 & 55 - The Ones Where They Stole A Bear's Shoes And When Carro Sulked About Leaving His Arrows

3rd & 9th Feb 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 3 - Uktar 3 Our "Heroes" consider their options. Either head into the ruins via the obvious route on the surface, risking being seen by the guards, or take the tunnel they have discovered which seems to be home to a strange and grotesque creature, and there is not even a guarantee that the cave system leads anywhere useful, as Mahtis only explored as far as the creature. They decide to face the strange creature. Given Mahtis' warnings about the worrying chatter from all the mouths on the creature, and TC's historic vague knowledge of such creatures, they decide to plug their ears with candle wax so they cannot hear anything as they advance. The cavern seems natural, and is very narrow in places, with lots of twists and turns and as they progress the nasty smell becomes quite overpowering. After a short while they reach a small widening in the cavern and encounter the Gibbering Mouther! Much hilarity ensues as TC tr

Session 53 - The One Where They Eventually Made It Across The Swamp

28th Jan & 3rd Feb 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 2 - Uktar 3 Our "Heroes" are in a swamp. They got a bit lost under the leadership of Carro, but seem to be back on track now, after a bloody distraction from a vicious vine. The intrepid adventurers discuss having a long rest - it is, after all, mid-morning, and they have been scratched. In the end they decide against this and press on, though TC is sulking. Mahtis steps up to the lead and decides to use her perception skill, though she describes the use of this skill in a perfect description of her survival abilities. The DM overlooks this, and Mahtis leads the group further into the swamp, deciding to improve her perception abilities by changing into a mastiff dog for the duration. She does well, and seems to take quite a direct path, hopefully towards the ruins. They pass through a very heavy rainfall, which starts and stops very quickly and is so hard they need to shelter under trees for a while. TC moves to the f

Session 52 - The One Where Carro's Survival Skills Get Them In Trouble

19th January 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 1 - Uktar 2 Our "Heroes" have managed to take care of the renegade fey creatures who disapproved of The Hunter and Callista's relationship. One escaped, but The Hunter doesn't think they will cause any further problems now that his entourage has been dispatched. The party approach the unmoving body of a sylvan lady, who they know is Callista when The Hunter confirms this. She seems to be asleep and has a silver thread tied around her leg, and around the large oak tree next to her. The Hunter rushes forward to rouse her lover, but as soon as the Tabaxi touches the fey's body, she immediately falls to the ground, asleep. After some investigation to check that both of the unmoving bodies are breathing, the party discuss how to wake them up without touching them. TC doesn't take long to decide that he should slap The Hunter around the face with his Mage Hand. He does so with some enthusiasm, but it doesn't seem

Session 51 - The One Where They Weren't Afraid Of The Dark

6th January 2024 In-game timeline: DR1489 Uktar 1 - Uktar 2 Our "Heroes" have provided the villagers with enough tangleweed to survive the current phase of the moon, and probably the next one too. They hope to be able to contact other Moonfall villages to gain enough further tangleweed to tide them over until the herbs at the grove have a chance to regrow. Discussion about how to defeat Charlotta and her 'tribe' and rescue the local children shows that the party need two things - some silvered weapons to actually harm lycanthropes, and a means of finding the ruins of An-Sen in the marshes. Both of these can be obtained from The Hunter, who lives in the nearby King's Wood. The next morning, the party set off to find The Hunter. Using Carro's oft-talked-about skills in the wood to find the Hunter's Lodge, they soon come upon a hut in the woods. It seems to be being watched by a sabre-toothed tiger, sitting upon a nearby rock. Our "Heroes" have a di

30th December 2023 In-game timeline: DR1489 Marpenoth 29 - Uktar 1 Our "Heroes" have managed to discover, and rescue, the adult villagers from Moonfall Cavern. It seems they take themselves here, and lock themselves up, in order to avoid them harming each other, and others, when they change into their animal form on the night of the full moon. The tangleweed is able to restrict this Change to only a single night, and helps them to avoid succumbing to The Curse completely and potentially changing their… outlook on life. Mahtis and Carro are understandably worried about the effects of being bitten. Elder Eldred Greylock explains a little about The Curse, and it seems that they will not change for another month, and they do have a chance to remove the curse from themselves, though the number of times they are bitten does make it harder to do so. This is a problem for another day. For now, the villagers are worried about the fate of their children, especially as it seems that t
